PRODUCT
- Inductive sensors:
Inductive sensors, including proximity sensors, are essential in industry. Unlike mechanical switches, they provide ideal advantages: no contact, high durability, precise switching, and immunity to vibration, dust, and moisture. These sensors, a type of proximity sensor, detect using electromagnetic induction. They emit a high-frequency electromagnetic field and sense metal or conductive objects.
- Vibration monitoring systems
Vibration monitoring systems are used for condition-based maintenance of machines and installations. They help to detect machine damage in good time and prevent costly consequential damage.
The ifm product range includes vibration transmitters, vibration sensors, accelerometers and evaluation electronics. Vibration transmitters and sensors detect damaged bearings and unbalance in drives and rotating machine parts. When combined with diagnostic electronics, accelerometers enable comprehensive vibration monitoring of large drives.
- Flow sensors / flow meters
In almost all fields of process and plant engineering liquids or gases are used, e.g. for coolant and lubricant supply of plants and power units or ventilation of installations and buildings. Electronic flow sensors are used to prevent damage or downtime caused by flow interruptions.
fm’s product range comprises flow sensors with different measuring principles for monitoring the most varied types of media, including water, oils and coolants, but also air, compressed air or aggressive media.
Their application areas range from simple monitoring tasks to precise flow rate measurements.
- Level sensors
Electronic level sensors monitor liquid and bulk levels in containers, tanks, and silos, including critical processes like hydraulic tank drainage. The ifm range offers continuous measurement or point detection using principles like capacitive, guided wave radar, or hydrostatic level measurement. Non-contact detection uses photoelectric sensors or 3D cameras. Unlike mechanical switches which can be affected by buildup and wear, ifm’s electronic sensors operate without such components. This enhances their durability and reliability. Added benefits are local level indication and easy switch configuration via pushbuttons.
- Temperature sensors
Temperature is the physical variable most often measured in machines and installations.
In the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries, temperature sensors are used to ensure that products are at the correct temperature. In machine tool and automotive applications, the temperature or temperature difference measured at drives, gears and motors plays an important role as an indicator of the machine condition. In the steel, metal and glass industries, temperature monitoring of cooling circuits serves to prevent overheating of plants.
A large selection of ifm temperature sensors is offered to suit different temperature ranges, installation depths, environmental conditions and media.
- Pressure sensors / Vaccuum sensors
ifm offers diverse electronic pressure sensors. Ceramic-capacitive measuring cells, corrosion-resistant, are supplemented by stainless steel variants with thin-film/thick-film wire strain gauges (PK, PV, PT series) and piezoresistive measurement (for pneumatic uses). Units have robust housings, no moving parts, ensuring shock resistance, maintenance-free operation. Ceramic-capacitive cells sustain accuracy. Sensors withstand dynamic pressure spikes, ensure high overload resistance, even with fast-closing valves. Stainless steel cells, thick-film strain gauges, compact design, fit various industries. Welded stainless steel cells, seal-free, ensure safety in extreme conditions, high-pressure, or corrosive environments.
- IO-Link
IO-Link has been developed by leading sensor, actuator and control manufacturers. The result is a standardized and fieldbus independent interface for automation. This provides the user with point-to-point connections without complex addressing.
